Who Can PlayFor Whom

Two questions that come up constantly: what makes a player eligible for an association in the first place, and when can someone already tied to one switch to another.

Build The Case

A player only needs one of these to be eligible for a new association they don't already hold a cap-tied nationality with. Tap any that apply and watch the verdict change.

Source: RGAS Article 8.1 — the residency thresholds vary by the age the player began living there (3 years if before age 10, 5 years if between 10–18 or from 18 onward). This checkpoint uses the two most common thresholds; open Article 8 directly for every band.

Cleared To Switch?

A player already tied to one association through a prior appearance can still switch once, under narrow conditions. Article 10.2 actually defines five separate pathways (a–e) — this checkpoint walks through the most common one (path "b"). The others cover edge cases like players who did reach "A" international level under strict limits, late-admitted associations, and involuntary loss of nationality — worth opening Article 10 directly if a real case doesn't fit this pattern.

Did the player only ever appear for the original association below "A" international level?
Was the player under 21 years old at the time of their last appearance for that association?
